Interview With Dobie:

Where did you come up man?

My father was in the military so I grow up locally here in Fayetteville, NC.

What are you earliest memories of the culture?

Break Dancing, B-Boying, Graffiti, Radio mixtapes that some of the guy would bring back from New York (WBLS/KISS FM/POWER 99 FM).

What was the NC scene like back in the day? Any local heroes you guys looked up to?

At the time it was still sort of bubbling under the surface. With the number of HBCU'S (Historically Black Colleges/Universities) in the area, they were incubators for hip hop to grow. There were several artists we looked up to and come to find out later that they were from NC, but at that time we had no way of knowing.

When did you start rhyming?

I would say around 1986. At school during our lunch breaks we would have Rap and Beatbox battles in the hallways.

How did the group meet?

We either went to the same school or live in the same neighborhood.

Are you all from around the way?
Most of our Fathers were in the military and thats what brought us to the Fayetteville NC area. so yes

Why was there only a CD released back in the day and no wax?

At the time, CD releases were more popular. We wanted to get the music in the hands of the people.

Were you pushing demos to labels? Any interest?

Yes, but we were trying to kick start our own thing, then have the labels come to us. Then life got in the way and our rap career took a back seat.

Only one album - did you cats split before a second project?

There were several songs recorded for our second project, some have been release and some haven't. As young men, we started growing up, and acquired real life responsibilities.
